She was the paternal grandchild of William M. "Billie" Jeffreys (1791-1864) and Mary Grey of Franklin Co, NC: and maternal grandchild of Samuel William Alston (1782-1830) and Sarah Dawson Williams (1791-1856) of Wake Co, NC.

She was widowed in 1913, and died in 1921 at age 76.
