DODGE CITY —
Edna Mae Moomaw, 93, died November 18, 2011, at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. She was born on August 20, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Sadie B. (Bealmear) Archer.
On April 18, 1946 she married Andy J. Moomaw at Dodge City. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1992.
Mrs. Moomaw taught school at Ash Grove and Ensign Schools. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. Edna Mae also loved to spend time with her family. She has been a resident of the Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City since 2003. Mrs. Moomaw enjoyed all the activities they offered the residents including playing pitch and bingo.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and was active in the Church Circle. Mrs. Moomaw was also actively involved in the Gray County Extension Board, Ensign Keenagers and was a 4-H Leader.
Edna Mae is survived by a son, Bob Moomaw of Ensign; two daughters, Peggy Soice and husband, Phil, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Ann Graff and husband, Marlin, of Great Falls, Montana; sister-in-law, Deloris Archer of Dodge City; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, B.B. Archer, and sister, Margaret Thompson.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., with Mr. Phil Scott presiding. Burial will follow at Ensign Cemetery in Ensign.
Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
