Albert J. McCaugney, 93, of Nashua NH passed away on Monday, E October 25, 2010, at the Courville of Nashua. Al was born in Nashua on May 31, 1917, son of the late John and Mary (Bowen) McCaugney. He was the widower of Rita (Kendrigan) McCaugney, who died May 22, 1968.
Al was a lifelong resident of Nashua. He began his education at Sacred Heart Grammar School, continuing on to Nashua High, and graduating from the Unuversity of New Hampshire in 1939. Al was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Prior to his retirement, Al had been employed mainly as an unemployment counselor with the New Hampshire Department of Employment Security for 42 years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church.
In addition to his wife, Al was predeceased by his grandson Brian Bedell, as well as his sisters Rose Reyor and Katherine Pirie.
Albert leaves his sons John McCaugney and wife Ruthannah of Detroit MI, and Michael McCaugney and wife Kathleen of Nashua; daughter Mary Bedell of Annandale VA; grandchildren Kristin Byrne and husband Paul, Cheryl Potvin and husband Scott, and Ryan McCaugney; and great-grandchildren Sam Byrne, Charlie Byrne, Mary Alice Byrne, Patrick Byrne, Cody Potvin, and Logan Potvin.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Anctil-Rochette Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
