Kenneth Klee Wright (Sep 24,1902-Jan 31, 1966) was born at home 776 Chenango Street Port Dickinson, N.Y.

1901 Horace Calvin Wright (1868-1961) a widower married Annie Klee Walter (1873-1930) a divorcee.

She bore him one child a son Kenneth Klee Wright.

Ken Wright attended The Port Dickinson two room School House 13 River Street and graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1920. He worked for a service garage in Bingbamton for a short time.

In 1926 he joined The Travelers Indemnity Co. of Hartford. Connecticut and completed his Agent Training Course at 55 John Street. NYC. He had an office with his Uncle Conrad C. Klee The General Agent for The Travelers n Binghamton, N.Y. He obtained his Broker's License in 1930.

Ken Wright was engaged to Eleanor Dix; the daughter of The Rev. B.W. Dix, Director of The Children's Home of The Wyoming Conference. In September 1929 he met Marie Ursula "Isabel" Montgomery a New York City Fashion Model and Silent Film actress who was visiting at 18 Hillcrest Ave, Port Dickinson. Once I saw her I could not get her out of my head, he told a friend years later. He broke off his engagement and pursued Isabel with phone calls, letters and an invitation for Thanksgiving Dinner. He bought her a beautiful calfskin traveling case with vanity accessories for; soap, powder, parfumerie, tooth brush, manicure, mirror, hair brush and comb. It had a canvas Pullman protective cover. Ken sold his Travelers Stock five days before the crash of October 1929 to buy her a mole skin coat trimmed with black dyed fox around the collar and down the front . He owned the Kenneth K. Wright Ins. Agency 1926-1966.

The business was very successful and was built on customer service. The customer came first and 24/7 if you called the business telephone line Ken or Isabel answered the call there was an extension in their home. Customers were given calendars, birthday cards, coloring books for children, perfume samples the wife and parking was paid for when they visited the downtown Binghamton office. They had three generations in many families insured. Many of his commercial customers were taken out for dinner and at Christmas received grift boxes from Harry & David fresh fruit and or jams.

Selling life insurance husbands often would say I don't want to leave a lot of insurance money to my wife some other guy will marry her. Ken Wright would reply If you leave her enough insurance money she won't have to marry anyone.

He was a 1928 Charter Member of The Port Dickinson Volunteer Fire Dept. Ken was also a member of The Exchange Club.

Ken Wright had two half sisters Hazel

Naomi Wright (1898-1909) by his father and

Leona Ruth Walter (1894-1964) by his mother.

His widow Isabel transferred $10,000 worth of IBM Stock to the treasurer of the Chenango Valley Central District sometime between 1968-1970 to

establish The Kenneth Klee Wright Memorial Award for Community Service it was one of the school

districs largest monetary awards. For an unknown reason the CVCSD decided to pay out the principle thus doing away with the award.
