Dick Howd left this earth on January 20, 2012.
He was born on October 1, 1942 to Leland E. and Dorothy A. Howd in Toledo, Oregon. He attended school in Toledo and graduated from Toledo High School.
He moved to McMinnville in 1960. He attended Linfield College and graduated in 1967.
On August 28, 1964, he married Claudia Ann Mickey in McMinnville. His son, Rick was born in 1966 and his daughter, Traci in 1972.
He was an active supporter of Boy Scouts of America, an avid reader, card player and sports enthusiast. He liked hunting for agates at the beach and hunting for golf balls. He worked for Mayflower Trucking, Skyline and Fleetwood Manufactured Homes. He enjoyed golf and was on the Carlton bowling league for many years. After he retired, he joined the Sr. Center and played cribbage and pinochle several times a week. He made such good friends there.
Dick is survived by his mother, Dorothy Paola; wife, Claudia; son, Rick (Peggy); daughter, Traci Brown (Frank) and his four grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart, Nate Howd, Frank Brown, Nick Howd and Caitlin Brown. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert and Russell, sister, Rita Tomison, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at the Chapel of Macy & Son with Pastor Jim Peterson officiating. Interment will be at South Yamhill Cemetery.
