In 1905 he moved with his family to Indiana where he very successfully engaged in farming for a number of years later returning to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was preceded in death by his son , December 6, 1923 and by his wife, March 5, 1927. He then moved to Seattle Washington, spending the remainder of his life in that state with his two sisters.
His was an honorable, honest and consistant life, having made the confession of his faith in Christ and uniting with the United Presbyterian church at an early age. He suffered much in a lingering illness but endured it all with a patient and uncomplaining spirit which was so characteristic of his whole life.
He was tenderly cared for by his sisters, Miss Melissa Moore and Mrs. Carrie Rasmussen both of Kent. Washington.
At his own request he was laid to rest in the beautiful Kent cemetery. His casket was covered and surrounded by lovely floral gifts of many friends.
It is good to know that he has gone to that Heavenly home where there are no more tears and no suffering and where he is again united with his own family for whom he never ceased to mourn. Source: Louisa County, Iowa newspaper
