Sylvia M. BogartDODGE CITY - Sylvia Mary Bogart, 90, died Jan. 25, 2008, at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City.

She was born Feb. 21, 1917, to Elzie Hugh and Sylvia June Harper Boss on a farm south of Grinnell. She attended West Sunny Slope School, and also attended high school in Grinnell. She was a farmwife, a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband, Carl, and his brother, Roland, in their trash-hauling business. She was also a cook's helper in the Oakley school system and a bakery cook at The Little Caf? in Oakley.

On March 8, 1936, she married Carl Thomas Bogart at the First Christian Church in Oakley. He died.

Survivors include: three children, Vernon Bogart, Dodge City, Vergie Heinen, Rapid City, S.D., and Varden Bogart, Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and step-grandchildren, their families, and many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, an infant, Linda Bogart, and Jara Albin; two brothers, Delmar and Dale Boss; and a sister, Doris Hannaford.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Feb. 9 at First Christian Church, Oakley, with the Rev. Bob Kelly presiding. Burial will be in Oakley Cemetery. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place at Burkhart Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Kennedy Koster Funeral Home, Oakley, is in charge of services.
