Don was adopted as a baby, the following is a newspaper clip that talked about him being found. His DOB is an estimate as no one knows when he was actually born. My grandmother (Don's granddaughter) confirmed this story before her death.
Last Thursday evening the family of Mr. Estabrooks of Pudding Hill heard a noise which sounded at first like a cat, but after inspection proved to be a good sized infant boy about three weeks old wrapped up in blankets on the front doorstep. There was a good sized box of clothing, beside the bundle containing the boy. The child was very nicely dressed and the clothes of fine quality. Mr. Estabrooks refuses all offers for the boy and says that being childless, he shall keep the little fellow.
