A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy as a Quartermaster on both the YTB-42 Panemeta and the destroyer USS New York.
Joe was an avid hockey fan who skated competitively until sidelined by injury at the age of 55. He volunteered for many years as a youth hockey coach in Reading and Wakefield. His passion for the game will long be remembered by his family and friends.
