DEATH ALWAYS BUSY DIED - At her home south of Earlville, Mrs. Eben Tripp, Saturday, August 18, 1900, aged 80 years, four months and three days. Mary Hutchins was born in New Portland, Somerset county, Maine, April 15, 1820. She was married to Eben Tripp, March 2, 1842 and to them were born six children, two of who died in infancy. The four surviving ones are: D. E. Tripp of Earlville; Mrs. J. Q. T. Jordan of Van Orin, Ill.; Mrs. F. H. Goss and Mrs. S. Peshia of Meriden and Mrs. G. W. Clifford of Leland, a step-daughter. In 1850 they emigrated from their native state and locate on the farm where she has lived until the time of her death. Besides the children mentioned above she leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at her late home on Monday afternoon, August 20, conducted by Rev. Enos Holt and the remains laid to rest beside those of her husband in the Tripp cemetery. (Source: The Earlville Leader, Friday, August 24, 1900 edition, page 1)
