He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, retired after working 44 years as a coal miner for Jim Walter Resources. He was also a well-known political figure. He loved God, his family and his magnitude of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Bevill State Community College Sumiton Campus with burial at Argo Community Cemetery. Visitation was held November 25, 2011 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Plez and Rosa Woods; his loving son, Johnny Woods; and his 10 Siblings.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Della Farris Woods; seven children, Sonny, Linda, and Charles Woods, Jackie (Maurice) Guin of Sumiton, Barbara (Luther) Reese and Shirley McLemore of Argo, and Printis (Haywood) Spencer of Graysville; 19 grandchildren; 17 Great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
