Nancy Moore was the daughter of Dempsey Moore and Jane Timmons. She was first married to John Anderson Patrick Hunter (who went by "Anderson") on December 20, 1837 in Putnam County, Indiana. There, they had their first 4 children: William Henry Harrison, Phebe Jane, James Franklin, and Eley Ann. In about 1853 they moved to Appanoose County, Iowa where their last child, Mary E, was born; Anderson Hunter died shortly thereafter.
On November 2, 1871 Nancy married the widower Lindsay B Bishop at Papinville in Bates County, Missouri. Lindsay's son, Albert, had married Nancy's daughter Phebe. Lindsay died December 12, 1876 in Appanoose County, Iowa.
