Mrs. Anna Hart Sweeney, 77, widow of Dennis E. Sweeney, died at 8:10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 1966 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell (Emma) Taylor 24 South St., with whom she had resided the past four years. She had been in failing health, and bedridden for several years. The funeral was held today at 9 a.m. at -the Nichols Funeral Home and at 9:30 o'clock at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial was made in Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Surviving Mrs. Sweeney, besides Mrs. Taylor, are two other daughters, Mrs. Merton (Ella) Calhoun, Watertown, and Mrs. Jesse (Lillian) Mims, Fitchburg, Mass.; four sons, Earl and Clarence, of Baldwinsville, Hubert of Ogdensburg, and James, whose address is unknown; two sisters. Mrs. Agnes Pickering, Star Lake, and Mrs. Jennie Narrow, Canada; two brothers, Fred Hart of Bombay, and Herman of Massena; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sweeney was born in Quebec Province, Canada, July 30, 1889, a daughter of Raphael and Emma Derochie Hart. She was married to Dennis E.Sweeney in 1906, the year she came to the United States to live. Mr. Sweeney was a dairy farmer in the Massena, Chase Mills and Canton areas until his death, in 1943.
