Mr Bryce Lesher Stevens, 77

STEVENS, Bryce Lesher - Of Grand Blanc, age 77, died Thursday, December 7, 2000 at his residence. Memorial service will be held at 4PM Sunday, December 10, 2000 at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 West Court Street in Flint, Reverend Steven J. Buck and Reverend John M. Byers officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Court Street Church Memorial Gifts Fund or Downtown Outreach Ministries of Flint. Family will receive friends from 3PM Sunday until the time of the service at the church. Mr. Stevens was born in Flint, Michigan on July 22, 1923. He was a resident of Grand Blanc and Flint all of his life. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Korean Conflict as an officer of the Air Force. Mr. Stevens was a graduate of Flint Central High School, Class of 1941 and was a graduate of General Motors Institute and the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) with engineering degrees. He married Shirley Welch in 1953 in Flint. He was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church and was active in church and community. He was a supporter of the arts and an extensive traveler. Mr. Stevens was employed by General Motors, AC Spark Plug Division as a mechanical engineer for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He held patents for several inventions. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gourmet cooking, his computer and studying German. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Welch Stevens of Grand Blanc; daughters, ... (omitted for privacy) ... son, ... ; grandchildren, ...; sister, Shirley Butcher of East Jordan, Michigan; brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Jack (Mary) Welch of Flushing, Michigan; Court Street Church Aldersgate class and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Eugene Stevens and Lila May (Lesher) Stevens.
