Rachel was a daughter of Getzel Getzelsohn and Yudesha Rabinowitz. Yudesha died 18 Jan 1881 in Vilijampole, annexed later by Kaunas city.


The headstone for Rachel's sister Deborah Bluma Silverman states her father was a great rabbi from Slobodka -- Yiddish for Vilijampole. However, two available lists of Vilijampole rabbis do not include him.
