Robert, 88, 534 Armstrong St., formerly Arlington Heights, IL, passed away at his home.
He was the son of Harry and Inez (Springer) Potts. His former wife, Bonnie (Bailey) Potts, survives in Cicero, IL.
Also surviving are a son, Burdette (Debbie), Algonquin, IL; two grandchildren: Susan (Zak) Imhoff, Lake in the Hills, IL, and Stephanie (Matt) Moser, Fox River Grove, IL; and five great-grandchildren.
He was a 1942 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School*. He then joined the US Army, serving from 1942-46 as an X-Ray Technician Instructor. He was a licensed plumber and electrician and had been a Building Engineer of the Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect, IL, from 1959-74. He was very knowledgeable about the Miami-Erie Canal and was a co-founder of the Miami Erie Canal Society; he was a member of the Buzzard Baiters Radio Control Airplane Club and he enjoyed gardening, biking and walking. He attended the Lima Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Funeral rites will be at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. David Williams, officiating.
