I grew up in Central Michigan, left as a young adult spending years working out of state, but returned later in life so as to be able to spend time with my father. One of the things I learned from him in these later years was the love of the history of my family. He had started the family tree with information he had received from family. I didn’t really become fully involved until he died and the documents and pictures he had used came into my possession.

I started our family tree using his information and expanding to my mother’s side of the tree. Early on in this research I became aware of Find-a-Grave along with the myriad of other sites available for investigation. I found it so exciting that I could actually see the locations and pictures which other members had posted of their, and by connections, my family. I started small, adding memorials for my family members, then as my family tree grew, trying to find burial locations for more distant family members, which sometimes can take hours or days. As burial locations are located using death certificates, cemetery transcriptions or other means, I add these memorials as well, whether or not they are my direct family –“step-“ or “half-“ family members or unrelated at all. I love the challenge of solving a mystery!

While I haven’t added thousands of records and don’t intend to become a “Top Contributor”, I do enjoy adding memorials for family and friends, “meeting” new family members and adding family links to put these families together in death as they were in life. If, in the process of adding memorials I have helped you to find a missing family member, then I am satisfied that I have done my best.
