RUTH ANN BUTLERRuth Ann Butler a native Greenvillian, the ninth child of the late Rev. & Mrs. C. E. Butler. She is a graduate of Sterling High School; Benedict College, did further studies at Clemson and Furman Universities., and presently work at the Greenville Cultural Exchange Center. One of her hobbies is researching and writing family and church histories. She has successfully traced her own family history back to Africa, and organized the first Butler-Wood Family Reunion in 1982. Ruth Ann is the founder of the Greenville Cultural Exchange Center, a museum to preserve black history in the upstate of South Carolina. It is located at 700 Arlington Avenue, Greenville, South Carolina. Ruth Ann has a passion for history. She fills the many requests for information from students of the school district, different colleges, and the news media for information concerning the African American history in the upstate.
