When I began searching, it was because my family didn't know (or wasn't telling) about my dad's Swearingen side of the family in SD so that was where I began. I still search for the RUTAN side information. I love learning the history of the time/place of my ancestors and believe that family history is a vital part our lives in order to honor our ancestors.
