Bio
The Cemetery Records for Geauga County can be found at www.geaugalibrary.net. In the drop-down menu choose "Services". Then scroll down to Local Cemetery Database under the bold print heading "Family and Local History". Then select the Township you are interested in. Most of these records go through the year 2010. Some go a little bit farther.
This is in addition to the work that I have done on the township
cemeteries in the county over the past 9 years.
There are countless discrepancies and duplications in Briar Hill/Riverview and Riverview Memorial Park in Russell Township, Geauga County, Ohio. There have been many duplications on Find A Grave of these two cemeteries. In late 2024, I finished indexing Riverview Memorial Park through the year 2011 on Findagrave. Please do a search for a name in Geauga County before entering a memorial in these cemeteries. It appears as though some of them have been corrected, but there are still duplications. For example, something that should appear in Riverview Memorial Park appears both in Riverview and in Briarhill, or only in Briarhill when it should be in Riverview. You can use the above reference provided by the Geauga County Library to find those records and where they should be accurately placed.
I have been working on cemeteries in both Trumbull & Geauga counties. This area of Ohio is part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Many of the original settlers came from Connecticut; many on foot!
Many of the records for Trumbull county came from "Trumbull County Cemetery Inscriptions 1800-1930", published 1983, compiled by the Trumbull County Chapter of the OGS. This book contains the tireless work done by Mrs. Grace Winnagle, who traversed the cemeteries in Trumbull County in the 1920s and 30s. Other burials were subsequently updated following her work added by other people in the 1940s.
Since 2011, I have used the above inscription book to enter the records included the book for the following areas of Trumbull County
Greene - Greenlawn & Old South
Gustavus - North View Cemetery
Kinsman - Kinsman Cemetery
Mecca - East Mecca & West Mecca cemeteries
Bazetta - Hillside (Cortland) & West Bazetta Cemeteries

This is a joint effort. Many people have worked tirelessly on this website. Many hands make light work. Everyone's combined efforts is greatly appreciated!
For Trumbull County, most of the burials I have entered are older. In many areas, other contributors have been photographing entire cemeteries, and adding more recent bu, and burials along with photos.
The Trumbull County Library in Warren, Ohio offers a service where you can obtain scanned copies of obituaries for free from such papers as The Warren Daily Tribune, The Warren Tribune Chronicle, etc. They have PDF files of obituary listings of names, newspapers, and columns from 1900 to 1949. From 1950 through 1961, there are no PDF files, however they can be found at the library, scanned and emailed to you. They don't have PDFs of people's names listed, but obituaries are available. From 1962 to the present, you can do a search for the obituaries and request a scanned copy at no charge. This can be found at www.wtcpl.org. Once you are on the site, select "Digital Library", then select "Local History & Genealogy Resources", and scroll down to "Obituary Index Search". You can request up to five obituaries at a time, but there is no limit to how many times you can use this service.
For Geauga County, the dates given in memorials I create are those appearing in the Cemetery Records, and some of those may indicate the date of burial, not the actual date of death. Also, most of the birth/death locations appearing in my Geauga Memorials are from death certificates at Familysearch.org. A few are from the Geauga Vital Records info compiled by Teeter Grosvenor.
If you would like a transfer of a memorial I have created, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be more than happy to transfer the memorial to you.
