I became interested in Genealogy as a HS teenager, forty years ago, when the following three factors came together about at the same time: 1) I relocated to Champaign Co., OH to reside with a sibling. Initially and merely out of pure boredom and curiosity, I became interested in cleaning up an old, uncared for cemetery that was on our way to town, within Concord Twp., Pioneer/Kenton Cemeter) where I resided (Hamlet of Eris). 2) The 1977 television mini series, ROOTS, came on; and 3) my Birth Certificate (that I'd never seen or knew of the names on it), had arrived in the mail in order for me to obtain my driver's license. All three events came together like a tornado and thus I began my 39 year + passion for GENEALOGY and love of history. Little did I know that this cemetery in itself is full of History, many family members of Simon Kenton (Ohio's Daniel Boone), who literally knew Daniel Boone as well since these Kenton's had 1st emigrated there from Virginia before emigrating up to Clark & Champaign Co., OH. (See Allen Eckart's books, THE FRONTIERSMAN,...) Genealogy and cemeteries also lead me to the opportunity to be employed as a Probate Deputy Clerk for 12 years in Ohio, restoring several Cemeteries; initiated the Chartering of the CCGS of OGS in Ohio and assisted with that of Green Co., WI Society. For 30 + years, I've assisted others with their research professionally as a part time business titled, Family Tree Lines and as a member of C.O.G (Council of Ohio Genealogists), a group of Professional Ohio Genealogists and Secretary of the Champaign County, Ohio Records Commission. In ca 1991, had a house built in Monroe Twp. of beautiful and historical Logan Co., Ohio (6858 Twp. Rd. 150). I am currently a member of several Southwestern, WI and WI Genealogical and/or Historical Societies, but actively in Green, Lafayette and Iowa Co's. I'm so thankful we now have F.A.G., which keeps me busy contributing names and information onto, for our future generations. That Birth Certificate lead me to Mineral Pint, Iowa Co., Wisconsin for my mother's Maternal side, who were all Irish Catholic and Scotch-Irish: COLLINS/CALLAN, GILMORE, RYAN, CROW/(E),McARDLE,CUNNINGHAM,CALHOUN,DUNBAR... and her Paternal English side: JACKSON, HARRIS, STEVENS, HEATH.... and West Virginia for my father: HEATHERLY, REEL, BOLTON, STOCKWELL, ANGLIN,McCLUNG,CARTER/CARDER,HOGBIN...,the majority of those took me back to Barbour, Harrison, Randolph and Greenbrier counties of West Virginia until the industrial revolution hit the mid west, and my grandparents, Wm. Boyd & Bertha (REEL)HEATHERLY left the mountains of Keyser, Mineral Co., WV, where their first child Edna was born, (Dec 20, 1906), struck out ca 1906-1910 for East Moline, Rock Co., IL, where my father, Carl Raymond Heatherly was born in 1910, where the industrial revolution was booming, as well as all through out the Great Lakes and the entire Midwest. In 2013, I learned he was first married to Shirley (Hutchinson/Hutchison)Riebe, the widow of Walter A. Riebe, Sr. Shirley and Walter had a dau., Iris Riebe b. ca 1930. *Last My Foster Family names include: CALL, NICHOLS, PATTERSON, GOODWIN/GORDAIN, HARDY, NEVEL, O'BRIEN and CRAIG, all primarily of Rock, Dane, Richland, and Racine Counties of Wisc., some of Winnebago Co., IL. *Prior to Huricane Katrina, I'd been in touch with my Calhoun cousin, Eunice Cunningham Calhoun Wymand, only to first loose her with her passing and then to loose track of her descendants when Katrina struck. Eunice's mother was my Gr. Gr. Grandmother's niece. Sadly I was not able to get my photos and Eunice's immediate family updated or assist them in identifying the box of photos that her son said he had.
