I started thinking about memorials with the Challenger explosion of 1986 and then more seriously with the USS Iowa turret explosion of 1989. My husband had previously worked in the same facilities as two of the victims, and I had met one of them, RG Gedeon III who died aged 22. I have now spent many happy hours looking at my in-laws family trees with the help of Find A Grave.
