After a few months of lurking on the site I decided to try to fill some photo requests for my town Colonial era cemetery March 2013. Tough to find with no plot. In the oldest part of the cemetery I found 2 rows of gothic brownstones around 2-3:00 pm and decided to photograph all of them. They were difficult to photograph & read with backlight glare. Finally one morning I couldn't sleep and managed to get out to the cemetery around 8 am and voila', the sun hits the face of the stone and all is revealed. I had to get there way before 9 am! I finished photographing the 120 stones and by then I was hooked. I might as well do the whole cemetery. Jan 2014 I printed out the Hale Cemetery Inscriptions and added the names I missed. I finished photographing those stones or getting area pics if the stone was no longer there May 2014. Also any modern memorial after 1934. So the Old Cemetery in East Haven Conn is photographed. Update: *Old Cemetery in North Haven (Old Center) Started to photograph in 2014. Finished that in April/May 2015 before the many large trees leafed out. Worked off of Hale Cemetery Listing 1933 transcribed by Charles Hale himself. Also had two 1888 inventories to add names. All standing headstones have a photograph or area photos if no longer standing.
*Brandford Center Cemetery, Started to photograph Section A the oldest part of the cemetery, May 2014. Finished Aug 2015 (Hale 1934 list & modern after 1934). Section B, to the left of the road to the office, finished Hale 1934 list July 2016 & some names after 1934. Section C beyond the office a handful of names from the 1934 list I could not find. Section has many modern memorials probably not entered despite the 95% photo ratio.
*Greenlawn Cemetery in East Haven-Hale Cemetery Inscriptions 1934-entered and photographed list by 1-1-16. Has some modern memorials.
*Independent New Haven Lodge Memorial in East Haven-photographed. A few additional photos done Jan 2020, April 2021.
*Montowese Cemetery in North Haven-2 memorials short of photographing all of the 1934 Hale Cemetery Inscriptions. Has many modern memorials probably not entered despite the 96% photo ratio.
*East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven-entered all the names listed in Hale Cemetery inscriptions 1934. Many modern memorials left.

Suggest a correction tools I use- whats on the headstone, Family Search for census, Conn State Library collection in Ancestry, especially the Hale Cemetery Inscriptions copied during the 1930's, the Barbour Collection of town vital records, The East Haven Register by Rev. Stephen Dodd pub. 1824, Families of Ancient New Haven by Donald Lines Jacobus & the local libraries.
