Absolutely love walking through cemeteries. There is something peaceful and historical about the experience. A few familial surnames I look for: Bonnet, Braden, Caraway, Carter, Crain, Echols, Goehring, Hoch, Howard, Korth, Menn, Poth, Schwab, Simmons, Speed, von Roeder, and Zimmerman. I am looking for memorials in Westside Cemetery (Yorktown, DeWitt County, Texas). An ancestor donated the land for that particular cemetery, and another ancestor was the first person buried there. If you're not related to any of the memorials and would like to send them my way, please do. I would be very excited and appreciative to have them.
A FEW BASIC GUIDELINES ON MY MEMORIALS:
1.) I have no issue with posting an obituary or birth and death certificates.
2.) DO NOT post bank account information or social security numbers.
3.) DO NOT leave a flower with suggested edits. There is a button for suggested edits...use it! Flowers are a symbol of remembrance, not for updating memorials.
4.) If you have a question concerning a memorial, please contact me through the Suggested Edits tab. Or message me directly, but be sure to include the memorial ID number when you do so.
5.) I will NOT tolerate rudeness or discourteous behavior. Nor will I accept anyone "talking down" to me. Each of us has our own way of doing things, including the time we volunteer for Find A Grave. I have a particular manner in which I like to format my memorials. If you don't like it, simply move on!
