I like history and have been casually researching my genealogical lines for a few years. I am descended from Quakers who came to the American Colonies from England, Wales and perhaps even Scotland (still trying to prove out this) with William Penn and other Quakers in the 1680s. I have enough that I could be a member of many historical societies, but have not bothered to apply. My ancestors settled in the Philadelphia and West Jersey area, so that is my focus right now.

I'm also looking for information on the Kite family, Pennsylvania, and the Watson family (which may have originally lived in North Carolina or Tennessee) descended from W. W. Watson who died in 1847. Here's what I know: A W.W. Watson graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1844. A Dr. W. W. Watson married Elizabeth Marple Kite (b.1817 Philly d.1902 Philly) in 1837, supposedly in Tennessee, although she was from the Philadelphia area. The Jefferson Medical College records show W.W. Watson lived in Pennsylvania at the time of graduation. Our Dr. Watson was to have said to died in 1847, perhaps in Tennessee, however, I cannot find any records about that. To further compound the mystery, my W.W. Watson had two sons, John (b.1845) and his older brother William (b.1843) were known to be born in Tennessee, but then shown to be living with their maternal grandparents in Philadelphia in the mid-1850s, without their mother. Later, the mother and children show on census records living with Elizabeth's brother's family in Philly and later living on their own in Philadelphia. Both Elizabeth Marple Kite Watson and her son William Wilkins Watson died in 1902.
