In following with the intent of Find A Grave, a place to locate burial information and memorialize the person, please consider not adding scanned or screenshots of genealogical documents to memorials and allow room for photos of the decedant, the grave setting and the grave itself.
When an obituary (or other record) is added as an image it will not be accessible to the increasing number of users who access Find A Grave with screen readers or have other specific disabilities.
Instead, one can paraphrase (to avoid copyright infringements) an obituary and give it's source location in the Bio section of the Memorial.
As noted in Find A Grave guidelines - Please do not include living survivors by name without authorization.
Please do NOT add newspaper article or obituary scans. The photo section is reserved for headstone/grave photos and possibly a portrait photo of the person, if that photo is owned by you. Do not copy and post photographs from obituary or funeral home websites (unless you personally are the photographer), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records.
Do not add photos to Find A Grave that you have acquired from another memorial or from another source. Similarly, do not add screen shots from other websites or scans of obituaries or newspaper articles (11/29/12). Photos fall under copyright protection laws, even photographs used in obituaries. In general, if you did not take the photo yourself, do not post it. The only exceptions to this are photos that are old enough to have fallen into the public domain and photos for which you have received written consent from the copyright holder.
