I am a native of Bradenton, FL and an alumni of Manatee High School. I have been doing a lot of work on Manatee Alumni FAG's, linking, correcting, adding obits, and doing so with alumni parents as well. Also creating FAG records if none existed. This has been a team initiative with the alumni society.

The Manatee High School Alumni Association is a formal association, complete with a Board of Directors. Our alumni were and are researched before a Find a Grave record is edited, if one exists, or created, if one does not. Our alumni have been identified by their names in the graduation commencement booklets, not by the school yearbook photo. The students had those senior photos made the summer before graduation, and many did not finish, hence the commencement booklet being the official standard of identification.

The alumni includes the school names of Manatee County High School (from beginning through 1929), Bradenton High School (from 1930-1947), back to Manatee County High School (from 1948-1958) and finally Manatee High School (from 1959 to present time). We are placing the school name and year of graduation on the record. The flower posted, is the class flower, if the class had one.

I am trying to add Find a Grave records of veterans that do not have one. While I am not specifically looking for these, should I see them on an obit page where I am looking for something else, I will add it. Often they were cremations and not affiliated with any type of cemetery, therefore, no record exists on them. I think they deserve the recognition.

To clarify a few cemeteries in Bradenton with similar names. We have Major Adams Cemetery, Fogartyville Cemetery and Adams Rogers Cemetery. Often Adams Rogers is referred to as Adams Cemetery, Rogers Cemetery or Adams Fogartyville Cemetery, adding to the confusion. The correct name is Adams Rogers Cemetery and it is located next to Fogartyville Cemetery, on the west side. There is a separate fence that leads you into Adams Rogers Cemetery.

To all you FAG volunteers, thanks for what you do. It has helped me, and many others, as we do genealogy research. We also get to see gravesites through FAG that we might not otherwise see. Your efforts are appreciated.
