Some of my interesting ancestors are Edward Fuller (The Mayflower, Registered but there may be a newly discovered DNA issue) and Chief Sitting Bull's sister- Lucy-Fixes Her Fine Hair HEMINGER , my father's Great Grandmother. My Father's mother was a full time genealogist and ironically, hid his true paternity, not realizing GENETIC GENEALOGY would reveal the truth.
I am currently researching all of Lucy's siblings and their decending lines, especially those not mentioned in E.L.'s Book, IYKYK.
( ie; Brown Shawl Hair Woman, Good Feather Woman, Short Woman, Twin Woman)
These sibling's knowledge passed thru oral tradition have MANY SHARED DNA MATCHES and revealing clues. While searching these lines, I am sometimes able to help others find their unknown or surprise families as well. Some have been kept secret of their paternal knowledge. Thankfully by isolating and Triangulating shared matches, using Genetic Genealogy, the truth can be revealed.

THE 2 RESOURCES ABOVE COMBINED WITH DNA, SHARED TREES AND DOCUMENTS CAN GREATLY INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF BREAKING THROUGH BRICK WALLS. You would be surprised at how much you can find with just a few matching 3rd/4th cousins (although closer is better) comparing their similar trees, showing their matching 2nd great grandparents, their children and grandchildren etc and sorting though their sources all while making a ghost tree until you find where your potential grandparents and your potential parents may fit in. You should eventually end up with likely suspects to study or you can reach out to DNA Search Angels on FB to guide you. (DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR ANCESTRY ACCOUNT PW! However, you can give them access to your DNA and a tree if you have that and let them do the rest. Try to vet them by seeing who else they have helped.)
Once you feel confident enough to make your tree public, you may even be unknowingly helping others by your research.
Also, dont forget to check out the yearly RootsTech that does classes as well (late winter/early spring)
Registered DAR with the Rachel Donnelson Chapter all though not able to make it to meetings due to health issues. I chose this very active chapter in the next county because they tend to donate to our local Native American Centers and their youth programs.
