Leah Virginia Atkinson Girard Doyle (Me) a 6th generation Texan,whose 'first documented Texas ancestor was Jacob La Grone , on 1836 taxpayer list for the new Republic of Texas . Other Ancestors Charles Arden Russell,George Claver Brightman, &Jacob Hickman Boone ,Robert Calvin Mount,William Stephenson Wallace, were here in days of Texas Republic.They were known as Texians. Born 1950 in Houston,Tx.to Lt.Cmdr.Charles Wallace Atkinson, born Houston tx & Eloise (Lena) Gage,born Port Gibson Ms . My Sister was Caroline Claire.My Father a licensed Civil Engineer and trained Navy Pilot, who joined in Dec.18,1941 Naval Air Force ,commander of huge flying submarine bombers in pacific .He also used early flying drones ,til 1946 , WWII . Killed by a drunk driver in 1952 , while surveying in Houston, he was 37 yrs old. . My mother Eloise Gage Atkinson remarried 1956 to Charles Guy DeLong. He had 1 son who was my older brother Tom DeLong .I married John Samuel Girard in 1972 .I have 2 sons Johnny Charles Girard & Franklin Guy Girard. & 4 grandchildren ,1 great grandson.We divorced 1981 ,and I married CJ Doyle in 1985 . We are together over 42 yrs and still together.Living at Lake Winona, Grimes County .THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE IN TEXAS . Credit goes to My grandmother Mabel Clare Mount Atkinson who enrolled me and my sister in the CRT.Children of the Republic of Texas,and my great Aunts Caroline Dehon Atkinson,and Alice Atkinson Neighbors,Mary Delaney Boddie ,all gave me the genealogy bug after reading their books & painstaking research. done ,1930s -1970s. I have since added to it ,traced my direct lines back to the old countries, Ireland England & SCOTLAND..I have currently 10128 people on my ancestry public tree going back 1000 yrs. Findagrave is a great genealogy tool,not just a place to find graves I usually only do memorials for my own family and friends .,but if I have posted any of your people and you want it transferred to you just message me on this site ..Someone smart once said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".
