I'm an old soul who loves researching historic projects, including my own family tree. If you're finding my profile wondering how or why I'm supplying you with vital record data, no…I'm not related to any of those people. I'm simply working on a little project, documenting the vital record data from the little newspapers in the tri-state. I transcribed every marriage and death announcements in the Virginia Free Press (and it's predecessors) from 1822 through mid-1861 when the paper went on hiatus during the American Civil War. This project took roughly two years.

These little papers did a great job keeping up with tri-state families as they migrated west. I'm adding death and marriage dates, connecting family profiles where I can and supplying maiden names…PLUS adding that newspaper clip with publication data. Yes, I do calculate DOB/DOD when a grave or obituary lists the data for several reasons, a) why go to the trouble of including a years/months/days in a death notice if you don't want a date calculated and b) calculating and populating YOD helps researchers fit progeny into their proper place and birth order.
