12th Generation native to Horry County, SC (that damned Independent republic of Horry )
Paternal bunch hopped off the ship in 1750, occupying a large chunk of what's now Hwy 90.. Hickory Grove (Vaughts and Watts), Myrtle Beach, Hwy 9 up through Longs. Grandmothers (mostly)English part (Gore & Andersons) of that side was already settled, largely around present day Pireway, Bug Hill, & Olyphic NC.. Hwy 905 area.
. Maternal side began as Scots-Irish (Scroggs) hill-folk from western NC (Murphy, Brasstown area ) and gravitated towards the coast in the 1930s. Settling in Tabor City, NC. Grandad died young, 1953. I moved away for a while, came back and that whole family is gone or ??? The only ones I know over there are on the other side of the grass.
I just try to keep it all pieced together (RIP Tommy)
