I was born in the province of Friesland, The Netherlands. In 1967 I started historical research, with an emphasis on the province of Friesland, its various municipalities and more specifically the history of noble residences and their inhabitants.

I have been researching my roots since 1981 and since 1997 also the descendants of one of my wifes forefathers who deceased in february 1480.

Around the turn of the millennium, "O'side Native" alerted me to the existence of Find a Grave and since then I have made extensive use of it. In 2018 I had more time and opportunities to return the favor. Since then I have photographed quite a few cemeteries in Friesland and added many memorials.

I also send my photos of the graves to Dutch national websites such as Graftombe.nl and Online-Begraafplaatsen.nl. In addition to Find a Grave, also rich sources for genealogists.

Because of the large number of memorials I've added, I also receive many additions and corrections from like-minded people. They also post many photos. If you are a close relative of a deceased person and would like the memorial removed, please email me stating your name, your relationship and the reason for your request. The same applies to just photos of gravestones. I no longer respond to anonymous requests.

Sorry if some photos aren't very clear, especially old and weathered gravestones are a challenge. However, thanks to carefully moistening the text before taking the photo and using Photoshop, they look better than they do in real life.
