To the Families of the Departed,

Find A Grave should be about families so they can find and view their loved ones final resting places and to preserve the record and sites for the generations that will follow. I work with a team of dedicated contributors, genealogists and fellow researchers with a mission to connect family member memorials and to add as much information as possible, knowing all submitted edits are done factually and with integrity.

I want all the memorials I create to go to the families, where they belong. It doesn't matter what your relationship is nor how many generations you are from the family member. I will never make it difficult for you and your family to ask for a transfer. If you are a family member, I will be happy to transfer any memorial to you, as long as I am not related. You may use the photographs in any dignified fashion and it will never be necessary to "give credit." I do this for you and your family. If you choose to give credit, thanks.

If you are submitting an edit as a family member, it is the understanding that you have done the research and verified the information. I get notifications from FG when someone has written or has submitted an edit and I check these multiple times a day. Know that I will make updates and requests in an expeditious and timely manner.

To the fellow contributors that have transferred family memorials to me for just submitting edits and not requesting a trx, I say Thank You. I have done the same for others and this is the spirit that FG contributors should foster.

My families genealogical research includes the following families; Melcolm, Poole, Lane, Burney (McBurnie), Parker, Gillespie, McNeill, Tate, White, Simpson, Jackson, Tompkins, Mizelle, Muller and West. If I inspire one person to become involved and interested in their families ancestry, then this work has succeeded. I trust your genealogical research is as comforting and rewarding, as it has been for me.

*It is appalling, what started as a wonderful way for families to connect with their ancestors, Find a Grave has turned into an ego trip for some contributors. There are contributors that have thousands of memorials that will never be looked again by them, and they make it difficult for a transfer to the rightful family member or won't do them at all. For those of us who do this for the families and abide by the rules of FG, I applaud you for your work. Let us hope there are more of us than them.
