Digging up the Dead & Annoying the Living...
"You must spend a lot of your time walking around old graveyards…" asked a slightly bemused relative. "Not as much as I would like to…" I replied, confirming for once and for all to everyone assembled that I had caught the incredible bug of 'Doing the Family Tree'.
Of course genealogy is much more than that. It has kept me amused for the best part of five decades, during which time I have made some fantastic long lasting friendships.
And yes, I do spend quite some time walking around old graveyards, nowadays mostly for Find a Grave and in particular CWGC sites. Apart from the sobering experience that one day we will all be adrift from life, genealogy is the only interest that I know of where so many people want to actively help others with similar interests. The more information on websites like FAG that is freely available, the better it is for everyone.
