Grew up fascinated by graveyards. Now, In the midst of my journey to find those from which I am created; my truest love is learning about my ancestors (near and far). All of their stories with tattered edges, all the struggles and accomplishments help me to contextualize my own existence.

I approach my volunteering for Find a Grave like an archeological scavenger hunt, Digitally photographing and recording the names of those who have gone before us. Exploring the lives of the people whose headstones I photograph, is a fantastic way I learn more about the community of the past, I am continually amazed at what I find.
Everyone's ancestors deserve to be remembered. I feel a real responsibility of recording those inclined to be forgotten. "Standing Stones" are some of the lonliest headstones I find.
Not knowing who we are is why we allow the world to break. By recording the past, I secure the future. I am the descendant of those who refused to be silenced, and by recording their names, I will ensure their story continues.
