Hello,

We are a group of volunteers interested in the history, conservation and improvement of Nottingham Road Cemetery. We give our time to clearing and maintaining areas, we run open days and coordinated events. We help people trace their ancestors buried at not only Nottingham Road, but also other council-maintained cemeteries. We also transcribe the original records, and we work to preserve the ecology of the cemetery.

 We have close liaisons with Derby City Council. We work with other local/national voluntary organisations, such as wildlife groups and the Commonwealth War Grave Commission. We also have good links with private sector organisations, such as funeral directors.

We take photographs of headstones and memorials; we will also find the plots and photograph the area when there is no headstone.

Derby City Council uses Everafter, powered by Plotbox, as their grave management system. This is a great system for finding deceased people buried in a municipal cemetery in Derby. It isn't complete, this is something we as a Friends group are working towards with a huge Transcribing project. The link for Everafter in Derby is
