Immigrants from the vicinity of Wimmenau, Bas-Rhin, France (incl. Rothbach, Erckartswiller, Wingen-sur-Moder, & Weinbourg) who settled in Shelby and Auglaize Counties, Ohio. Almost all of them settled in Clay Township, Auglaize County or Jackson Township, Shelby County, but a handful settled in eastern Dinsmore Township, Shelby County. However, they eventually spread into neighboring townships (especially the ones who immigrated as children) and their graves can be found throughout both counties. Many first settled in Stark or Carroll Counties, Ohio. A few remained in northeast Ohio, while a few lived in Shelby or Auglaize Counties before moving further west. These other immigrants from the same area have been moved to a separate virtual cemetery--Alsatian immigrants from Wimmenau and vicinity to other locations--so that I can more easily determine those which stayed in Shelby & Auglaize Counties.
