History:
The German Reformed congregation at Pine Hall (now St. Peter's United Church of Christ) was organized in 1859 by Rev. P. S. Fisher. The church was erected in the same year in conjunction with the Pine Hall L:utheran congregation. Burials were made in the churchyard with at least eleven children buried there in the 1850's. The 1855 stone of Anna M. Neidigh, wife of John, is one of the earliest adult burials found today. Eventually the two congregations separated with the Lutherans constructing the PIne Hall Luthern church across the road from the cemetery in 1904.
About 1898 the cemetery became a public cemetery governed by a board made up of members of the two churches, but not affiliated with them. The initial land was from the Strouse farm with later additions from others. When Eric Tech (now Murata--Erie) purchased the Markle farm they donated a few acres to the cemetery. The cemetery contains about fourteen acres.
The plots belong to the individuals with two exceptions. One plot is owned by the Borough of State College for the burial of indigents and for which the cemetery has no records. A second plot is retained by the cemetery as a baby area.
The cemetery is an active on and and very well kept.
