Andersons Creek Cemetery is one of Victoria's oldest cemeteries and holds many heritage value to Warrandyte. It first opened in 1858 around the time of Templestowe Cemetery, with the government reserving 1.7 hectares in 1866. A large number of miners from Warrandyte were buried here over the years, many in unmarked graves. The first burial to occur here was in 1867. The cemetery originally opened as a monumental cemetery, however has since been expanded to allow lawn burials and options to inter cremated remains in Rose Gardens.
In 1939 at the height of the Black Friday bushfires, all the records were lost including markers of graves. Warrandyte Historical Society has found 220 names of people thought to be buried here and these names were put on a plaque that's visible in cemetery grounds.
