Muirkirk Old Kirkyard is contained within the grounds of Muirkirk Parish Church and is maintained by the local authority.

The cemetery was formed in 1866. The most ancient gravestone is dated 1629 and is thought to have been moved from it's original location at Auldhouseburn graveyard of heritors.

The last burial in the kirkyard was in 1922.

Those buried in the cemetery include John Lapraik, poet and friend of Robert Burns, and Isobel (Tibby) Pagan, poetess.
