In 1827, the corner of Jacob Swackhamer's farm was used as a burying ground for his niece, Julia Ann. It has been a place of burial ever since.
In 1838, a Congregational church was formed by the Rev. H. Denny in the schoolhouse situated on Jacob Swackhamer's farm and in 1843, the church building, which still stands, was completed.
When threatened with closure by the United Church in 1968, the congregation fought the decision and became the Churchill Community Church.
The church is located on the SW corner of the intersection and the cemetery, maintained by the Churchill Cemetery Board, is across the road on the SE corner.
