From Elkhart, Iowa Bicentennial History - "The Cory Grove Community Church is located 2 1/2 miles east of Elkhart. There was a community of settlers located here - led first by Isaac Cory and his family - hence the name of Cory's Grove, now referred to as Cory Grove..... The deed refers to it as "Cory Grove Chapel of th Methodist Episcopal Church." Isaac Cory was the first minister in this Church...... The Byers cemetery adjoins the church yard...."
