Mr. Leonard M. Preston and his wife, Mullie Rush Preston, of Cambria, Virginia, died of injuries received in an automobile accident. Their car was struck by a passenger train in Mebane, NC.

Mr. Preston died instantly, and Mrs. Preston, later in the evening at a local hospital. Mrs. Preston's father and her sister, were by her bedside when she passed. She was from a well-known Randolph County family.
The Prestons had been married for about nine months.

Leonard Merle Preston was the son of Mr. Frank Preston, of Partlo, Virginia. He was a native of New York state and had been a resident of the Cambria/Christianburg area of Virginia for a number of years.

Mr. Preston was a well-known business man in western Virginia. He was manager of the Phoenix Furniture Corporation in Cambria, at the time of his death.

The accident occurred while the couple were en route to Asheboro to visit Mrs. Preston's relatives. This would have been Mrs. Preston's first visit home since their marriage.
