Walter Herrick Stoutenburgh, prominent Woodstock Hill resident, died at his home there, Thursday evening at the age of 82 years. Mr Stoutenburgh had been a resident of that town for about 15 years, buying and occupying the Weaver farm on the hill about 1910.
He was born in East Park, Poughkeepsie, NY in 1842. After graduation from Anemia Seminary, New York, he went to work and in 1890 took a position as Superintendent of the hospital and alms house at Washington, D.C. For 21 years, he held this position until coming to Woodstock.
Mr Stoutenburgh leaves three daughters:
Mrs Thomas W Barrett of Poughkeepsie, NY
Mrs James E Peckham of Los Angeles
Miss Blanche Stoutenburgh of East Woodstock with whom he lived
Two sons: Dr John A Stoutenburgh and A H Stoutenburge both of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services at his birthplace, East Park Poughkeepsie.
