A former Scranton resident, she was a daughter of the late Jacob H. and Maude Pickens Burkhart.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Torrence, with whom she resided; a son, Robert, Warminster, Bucks County; two brothers, Richard Burkhart, Montdale, and Darrell Burkhart, Scranton; a sister, Louise Hughes, Florida; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Stanley and Robert Burkhart, and a sister, Thelma Gilgallon, preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Washburn Street Cemetery by the Rev. James Reese, pastor, Finch Hill Baptist Church.
