Mr. Woodward passed away in St. Luke's Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, January 31, 1973 after a short illness. He was born in Sylvania, Wisconsin on April 26, 1890, and was 82 years of age. He lived in Racine and Racine County all of his life. On October 6, 1923 in Waukegan, Illinois he was married to the former Mathilda Johnson. Until his retirement in 1958, Mr. Woodward was employed at Twin Disc Clutch Co. for 17 years. He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Surviving him are his wife, Mathilda; three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Arthur Ludvigsen and Margaret and Nels Rasmussen all of Racine and Nancy and Thomas Heinen of Kenosha; eight sons and daughters-in-law: George and Hazel, Floyd and Pearl, Billy and Jean, Howard and Dorothy, Vernon and Irene, Wayne and Elizabeth, David and Jean Woodward all of Racine and Glenn and Florence Woodward of Stevens Point, Wisc., 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Woodward living in Florida and Fred Woodward of Kenosha County; nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife Hannah (nee: Hansen) in 1918 and by a daughter, Joyce Woodward in 1940. Funeral Services will be held in the Wilson Funeral Home, Saturday, February 3, 1973 at 1 p.m. with the REv. J. Christian Quello officiating. Burial will follow in the Sylvania Cemetery on Highway 41. Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1139 Blaine Ave. after 6 p.m. on Friday.
