Born July 6, 1922, in Burlington Junction, Mo., Mr. Miller lived all his life in the area where he graduated from Burlington Junction High School. A retired postal clerk, he was a member of First United Methodist Church , Men's Forum and Elks Club, all of Maryville. He served in the miliary during World War II.
On Jan. 6, 1944, he married Nona L. Kirbie in Pratt, Kan. She died in 1981. Mr. Miller was also preceded in death by a son, Michael; his parents, John D., Sr., and Gertrude; a brother, Wilson; and a sister, Maxine O'Riley.
He later married Bertha H. Wiederholt on Dec. 18, 1982, in Maryville. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Gordon of Urbandale, Iowa; a daughter, Christie Locke of Blue Springs, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Donna King of Geneva, Ill.; three stepsons, James Wiederholt of Kearney, Mo., and Mark and Kevin Wiederholt, both of Maryville; a half-sister, Lorraine Ulmer of St Joseph; three stepsisters, Georgia Ulmer, Roberta Beason and Ruth Morrow, all of Maryville; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
