Cornelius McCarthy, residing at 913 North Fourth Street, died this forenoon of a

stomach trouble. He was formerly a resident of Marysburg and his remains will

be taken to that place where the funeral will be held Sunday morning. He is

survived by a wife and several grown-up children. Mankato R. 9-22-1899.


A Respectable Old Citizen Gone

Mr. Cornelius McCarthy residing at 913 North Fourth Street of this city

[Mankato, MN], quietly and peacefully passed away at 10:15 Friday morning, after

a lingering illness from dyspepsia.

Mr. McCarthy was born in New Market, County Cork, Ireland in 1828. He came to

this country at the age of 16, lived in Indiana for five years where he married

Miss Jennie Hayes. He came to Marysburg in 1860 where nine children were born

to them. He served as a private in the Mounted Rangers for one year. He moved

to Mankato in 1892 where he lived until the time of his death. He was dearly

loved by his family and highly esteemed by those who knew him. His remains were

buried at Marysburg. Mankato R. 9-28-1899.
