Ancestors of the Lynes family have been holding annual reunions since 1906. Most were held in Bremer County, Iowa. Later, annual reunions were also held in California where a branch of the Lynes family relocated.
The family came to Iowa in the early 1850's mostly by way of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois and Wisconsin. They settled, cleared land and farmed near Plainfield, Iowa where many lie today in Willow Lawn Cemetery.
Each year a group portrait was taken as well as those taken of old-timers, brothers and sisters and cousins. It's been a bit of a puzzle over the years to identify individuals in some of these photos of ancestors.
I continue to research and hunt for those long, lost relatives in an attempt to connect all the dots. I utilize the Find-a-grave site for much of this research and add information on past relatives whenever possible.
