DO NOT SEND SUGGESTIONS THROUGH THE "SUGGEST OTHER CORRECTIONS" OPTION IF THE CHANGE CAN BE MADE THROUGH THE OTHER SECTIONS OF THE "SUGGEST EDITS" TAB. For example, if you want me to add parents and/or spouse(s), then find the correct parents and/or spouse(s) and put them in the appropriate spaces in the "suggest edits" tab. If you know who the parents and/or spouse(s) are but not where they are, then you may use the "suggest other corrections" option, but be sure to make it clear in your message that you don't know where they are. OTHER THAN THAT, THE ONLY TIME YOU SHOULD BE SENDING ME A MESSAGE IS WHEN YOU NEED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE/JUSTIFICATION FOR YOUR CORRECTIONS OR IF YOU WANT ME TO ADD SOMETHING TO A BIO. NOTE: If you want something added to the bio section, please indicate that in your message. For example: "Would you please add the following information to his/her bio:..." Enter a couple of times, and then write exactly what you want the bio addition to say. Be specific. If you send a message with no preamble, and expect me to interpret your intent, then I'm likely to ignore and delete the message and do nothing with the information. Be specific.

Because of issues in the past, I stick to FAG transfer guidelines. In other words, if the person you are requesting does not fall within those guideline, I will not transfer that memorial to you without good reason: "I'm related," is not a good enough reason, as there are likely hundreds, if not thousands of others who are equally related.
So we are clear, those guidelines are outlined on FAG's help page, but I'm adding them here for convenience:

How can I request to manage a relative's memorial?
1. Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. You can add photos and suggest corrections without managing a memorial. With millions of members, there will be many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all members to manage their entire tree.
2. Memorials are transferred for relatives with these close relationships: child, spouse/partner, sibling, parent, grandchild, great-grandchild, grandparent, great-grandparent, niece/nephew, great-niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, great-aunt/uncle, or first cousin. This would include adoptive, step and in-law versions of these relationships.
3. If two members are related within these guidelines and both would like to manage the memorial, the member with the closer relationship should be given management.
4. Always explain your relationship in the request! Keep in mind that the memorial manager may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. You may also want to include your specific interest in the memorial.

If the person you would like transferred to you falls within the guidelines, do not send me a message through my profile asking for the transfer, use the "Suggest other corrections" button in the profile. If you do not provide a pedigree and I cannot independently verify your relationship then I will ignore your request.

If you wish for information to be ADDED, USE THE EDIT TAB ON THE MEMORIAL. If I don't immediately get to one of your requested edits, it's very likely due to the fact that I'm researching your suggestion. HEADSTONES ARE NOT the be-all/end-all of proof. If you are sending me an edit that contradicts the info I have posted already, based solely on the information on a headstone, then just don't bother, because headstones have notoriously variable accuracy. Therefore, if you are sending me an edit, please check PRIMARY sources (birth, marriage, death records, etc) before sending the suggestion. If there are no primary sources, then a preponderance of circumstantial evidence may be accepted. This is particularly true in the case of familial relationships.

If you want information CHANGED (as opposed to added), then supply me with a link to a primary source document showing that your information is correct. If you simply provide me with a headstone picture or no documentary source, at all, then I will add a message in the bio section explaining that there may be a discrepancy, but I will maintain the memorial with the information I had originally. As we all want to make these memorials as accurate as possible, my request for documentation for changes is not unrealistic. And again, headstones are not primary sources.

A note on obituaries: I am happy to reprint an obituary as long as the name of the publication and the date of the publication are included (page number is also appreciated). Once an obituary is printed, either in a newspaper or on the internet, it becomes a matter of public record and anyone mentioned in that obituary no longer has the expectation of privacy.
